Imperial jocks get the guard, nerds command the navy. It’s funny to be reminded that the most competent organization in humanity’s dark future is also given the least narrative attention. Behind the scenes of every heroic last stand on a battlefield or deep intrigue under a hive there’s the force that controls the stars and the space between. I don’t give them much thought but that aspect of the imperium probably contains some of the best minds and most sound characters that we will never see written about.

Destiny also stomps Warhammer easily. What beings in Warhammer call undefeatable gods Guardians call taken up vault space. The gods of Destiny can rewrite time without you ever existing, tear your soul out and corrupt it, split reality with the flick of a finger, split a sun in two with a swing of a glaive, and then Guardians come in and annihilate them all like it’s your average Monday all because they heard their brains would make good ammo. And let’s not forget the biggest thing of Destiny, ‘Guardians Make Their Own Fate’. For such a throw away line the context it’s used in makes Guardians up there with the most powerful beings in media for one reason: They’re not bound by fate. You cannot erase them from time, you cannot make a prophecy they’ll follow, you cannot mind control them, they are a rogue element in spacetime that just do whatever the hell they want. Pull a flaming pistol out of thin air that shoots concentrated suns that make you explode into a nuke sure why not. Guardians are also super adept and learning whatever you place in their hand. Give them a bolter or flammer and they’ll use it better than any Custodes can in a matter of seconds. This is just the Guardians, too. Haven’t even mentioned the Disciples, the Hive, or the Vex. Get a fireteam of six morons with reality breaking powers, plop them into Warhammer, tell them a god of your choice would make a neat gun and has some cool armor they can take and they’ll bring down Terra in 2 hours if we’re generous with the Emperium.

honestly surprised that modified humans (think xenohumans from rimworld) never show up, even once. for biological modification ig it makes sense (as that tech never comes up), but the tech that makes mechs possible could easily be used on a smaller scale to add a prehensile tail or smthn.

Not really relevant (though brought on by the Halo pic in the intro), but kinda curious as to what the interaction between Forerunners and these guys would be. I mean, Forerunners are fucking DANGEROUS. Ridiculously hard (basically impossible with 40k tech) to even get through their shields and armor, and they would have no problem killing these guys because it's hard to get up when you're turned into atoms. They're also fucking ENORMOUS (multiple times the size of the Imperium of Man). So I'm curious if they would just kinda leave the Forerunners, who have NO use for the Necron's tech, completely alone until they just leave.

I read this fan-fic where this Inquisitor was visiting a primitive imperium world and started finding weird markings on his ship hearing weird noises until they eventually found them snd cleared the ship, later leading an extermination mission to wipe out the clan (of still primitive but rapidly growing skaven) from a mountain chain. They eventually after wiping out thr clan determined that they dont know if there are any left and so destroyed the planet

I feel like the Forerunner would probably ally themselves with the Necron honestly. The Forerunner would be able to study Necron stuff, and the Necron would get a race that would probably be able to figure out how to get them back into flesh and bone bodies, without all the curses they had before becoming all metal.

I would argue that the Tanith 1st and only or the Last Chancers would more than compete with clone troopers

The Death Guard... poor bastards. I forget where its from but there's a section about a newly inducted Plague Marine and he isn't enjoying the process. Sure the rot and diseases are bad but for him the worst thing about it is that his mind is being twisted by Nurgle's power. It makes him see joy in situations he hates to the point he'll have bouts involuntary bouts good natured laughter. Even if they had gone down kicking and screaming, they had bugger all choice in becoming what they currently are.

The Ordo Chronos play a major role in the Ahriman trilogy (he ends up with the "ghost" of one of them trapped in his mindscape which comes as a bit of a shock to all four of them. Yes four, read that trilogy!) because they _dive into Eyespace to predict the future using a bubble of spacetime stuck in a single moment._ This causes no shortage of headaches for Ahriman because butterfly effect.
